It is no easy task coloring hair, specifically textured hair. Natural hair is more resistant, porous, and may alter your curl pattern.

When you are receiving a hair color service, always make sure it’s a professional and someone you trust. One suggestion is to perform a strand test by taking a very small section of your hair to see how your hair behaves with the color. It can tell you if there is  an adverse reaction or if the result is perfect to proceed with the service.

I’ve heard so many horror stories from clients who have come to me in efforts to reverse the other stylists mistakes. But fear not, there are ways to process a color correction  service safely, without causing irreversible damage.

I usually formulate lighter, if I am striving for a medium to light brown tones with 20 volume developer. For highlights, I use 10 volume developer for more control to prevent brassiness while achieving the correct tone.

Note: If your is damaged, then you would have to treat it and make sure that it is in a healthy condition before any chemical service.

For maintenance, always use hydrating hair products since its more delicate now that it’s colored. Coloring and lightening your hair can be a drying or damaging process, therefore you have to put that moisture back into your hair.

Enjoy your new hair color!
